The creators of Daoist practice made use of kung fu to combat their enemies, and art of kung fu came to be handed down in successive generations. The movements, stances, and training techniques leveraged by kung fu partner with human anatomy and physiology to bolster solidity.

These movements come from the five basic foot positions and the four stances known as dragon stance, frog stance, horse riding stance, and snake stance.
